Ford Presentation Tool

The brief

Imagination designed a presentation tool Ford could take on the road to salesmen convention. The tool would allow sales teams to create mood boards out of image libraries, representing different customer types. Each team should be able to save, retrieve, and delete moodboards.

The solution

At each convention the agency would set up a local network with a central server running Apache, and cluster of desktop computers connected to it. Each computer would be preloaded with a web browser which had already run through a setup script and loaded a Flash interface. The interface would then communicate via XML with the central server, sending / receiving image library and mood board data. This data would be saved in a global database for research further down the line.

The deliverables

A downloadable package consisting of MAMP and setup scripts to create the local database and load the Flash interfaces.

The team

5: a project manager, a creative, a copywriter, an actionscripter, and myself.

My involvment

I devised the technical architecture, including installation procedure and database design, and coded the backend and setup scripts (using Ajax).

The outcome

It all went swimmingly, as far as I know.
